A PERSONAL NOTE
Hammurwar Brightshore is the last thing I will make at Futuregames. It's the culmination of everything I've learned and come to love about making video games. The names listed above are among the top talent at the school. It felt amazing to end this phase of my education in the company of such hilarious, awesomely-talented, humble individuals. For 10 weeks, we did nothing but try to make the best multiplayer FPS that we could.
For each of the several mistakes that we made, we learned something new. Failure was just something we brushed past on the path to progress. It was the most focused yet unserious project I've worked on. We all loved what we were doing, but there was no looming pressure that could undermine the enjoyment of working on our craft. I'm pleased to share it with you, and I hope you connect with it in some way.
I've tried to post every major assignment I've done throughout my time at Futuregames. I can remember what school was like during each of the projects. All the stress and excitement, the jokes told, lunch breaks, and random trips to Coop for a drink or snack. We were always moving forward and testing our limits. Some might say we were trying to get here.
As I write this, our last day at school is tomorrow. Then, next week, we all start our internships. Of course, we will still be contact. However, our time as students together at school has come to an end.
While we are all deeply excited for the future, things right now feel bittersweet. We've grown so used to seeing each other, talking about all the things we love, and the things that piss us off. Countless hugs and handshakes have been given. We've been together through it all.
We know eachother's quirks, strengths, and weaknesses. There's great value in that knowledge. You have the capacity to do a great deal of good if you're thoughtful about it.
It's with this awareness that I'm hopeful for my peers and I. We started Futuregames surrounded by strangers, and I'm leaving with a group I'm proud to call my friends.
Here's to what's ahead, and I'll be ready for it.
